Scary moment in the AHL, when a fight between Kale Kessy of the Hershey Bears and Derek Sheppard of the Charlotte Checkers resulted in a trip to the hospital.
These two were exchanging haymakers in their game on Tuesday when Kessy suddenly fell to the ice, and it was immediately clear that things weren’t right. Sheppard and the on-ice officials immediately called for medical assistance from the bench, and both teams gave stick taps as he was stretchered off the ice.
Per the team, Kessy is in stable condition. Before leaving the ice, he reportedly told his teammates to “go win the game.” They would, finishing off with a 6-1 win against the Checkers.
