All season long, the question has been less about whether Alexis Lafrenière will go first overall in this year’s NHL draft, and more about who will get to pick him with the first selection.

Today, the wait will finally be over, and we'll find out who will receive the coveted first overall pick.

While the Ottawa Senators have the numerical edge in this draft, Detroit, Buffalo, Jersey, the Ducks, and the Kings also have a shot at the star from Saint-Eustache, QB.

Everyone around the hockey world is buzzing over Lafrenière’s hands, speed, IQ, and physical domination on the ice, but we know not everyone has seen him play yet. In light of that, we’ve compiled some of the most jaw-dropping plays and goals we’ve seen from his career thus far to get you as excited to see him in the NHL as we are.

5. Here’s  Lafrenière when he was 16 –essentially a little kid compared to a lot of the players in the league – getting crafty with his hands in front of the net for this beauty. He scores a lot of goals in tight, so get used to seeing this.

4. Remember what we said about goals down low? Here he is picking up the rebound, controlling it down low, and dropping a shoulder to go to the net and score.

3. If you’ve ever seen Lafrenière play (and you’re not a QMJHL fan) it was probably representing Team Canada at the World Junior Championships. He’s got a slew of highlights from the two tournaments he’s played in, and while the goals he’s scored are impressive, he’s just as impressive with his set-up game.

2. Lafrenière’s individual effort and ability to finish is always second to none, and he’s shown that over and over again.

1. We’ll just let this one speak for itself.

Moral of the story? Whoever gets the first overall pick is getting an absolute dandy.
