Hafthor Bjornsson – known as “The Mountain” from Game of Thrones is officially the new world record holder for the most weight lifted during a deadlift.
Bjornsson set the new record by lifting 1,041 pounds at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic, breaking the old record by ten pounds.
What a display of raw power from the big man in what just looked like another average lift. Could he have lifted more weight? Perhaps, but maybe he’s just slowly waiting for someone else to push him off his pedastol, and then blow them away.
You’ll notice that all “The Mountain” needed was just some workout straps, a bit of chalk and a protein shake beforehand.
The Game of Thrones star also cleaned up in Bag Over Bar competition by swingwing a 95-pound sandbag.
The weirdest moment from the Strongman Classic came from when 37-year-old Russian lifter Mikhail Shivlyakov’s nose started to gush blood during his attempt of dead-lifting 939 pounds.
