In December last year, Guy Lapointe and his family announced through the Montreal Canadiens that the Habs great had been diagnosed with oral cancer.
Good news: Lapointe’s cancer is in remission, according to his son on Twitter. Lapointe is 72 years old.
“A year later, despite the side effects of the treatments, my father is in remission from his cancer. I am so proud of him!” tweets Lapointe Jr. via Google Translate, adding that his father is looking forward to watching the Canadiens next season.
It’s great to see that Lapointe is doing better, after a year of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. In the NHL.com article retweeted by Lapointe Jr., Lapointe also spoke at depth about his Canadiens, giving his seal of approval for the team’s additions in free agency.
We’re sure that Habs fans love to see one of the team’s greats still following the team’s moves so closely today, and even more so to see that Lapointe is doing better these days in his battle with cancer. Here’s hoping all the signs stay positive!
