Athletes don’t usually talk about it in their accomplishment, but having an animal named after you at the local zoo is one of the greatest honours in sports.
This past year Rob Gronkowski joined the list of athletes with animals named after them as a baby rhino at a Tampa Bay zoo was named after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end in just his first year with the club.
The zoo recently shared baby Gronk’s process on Twitter and the tight end couldn’t help but chime in.
A few years ago Tom Brady was in a similar situation, only his naming situation was more of an insult than an honour as an Atlanta Zoo named a cockroach after the quarterback after he put together one of the greatest Super Bowl comebacks of all-time.
After the Toronto Raptors captured their first championship in franchise history, the Toronto Zoo named 37 out of 48 baby turtles after the Raptors players and coaching staff.
What kind of animal would you want named after you if you were a professional athlete?
