On September 13, 1981, the first ever Terry Fox Run was held in honour of Terry Fox..
With Sunday being the 39th anniversary of the first run held in his name, Google honoured Terry Fox in a pretty awesome way by dedicating the day’s Google Doodle to him.
The Doodle features Terry running in a valley near a lake with ‘GOOGLE’ spelt out in the clouds behind him, and it was illustrated by Lynn Scurfield, a Toronto-based artist.
Terry’s original goal was to raise $1 for every Canadian to fight cancer - which was just over 24 million at the time. To date, more than $800 million has been raised towards cancer research in his name.
