Michael Jordan was the ultimate trash talker. Kobe Bryant was the ultimate competitor. So when the two faced off, things logically got just a tad bit heated.

Former Washington Wizard Gilbert Arenas explained on The No Chill Podcast about a time when MJ’s words lit a fire under the Black Mamba’s rear end. According to Arenas, MJ told Kobe after a Wizards game that he could wear the shoes but “never fill them.” This didn’t sit well with the Lakers star, who apparently didn’t speak to teammates for two weeks afterward. The next time the two squared off, Kobe dropped 55.

Now THAT is how you make a statement.

It’s worth mentioning that Jordan was 40 at the time but still, it really doesn’t get more cool/insane than this. And to add even more spice to the story, Kobe was wearing Jordan 8 sneakers at the time. That’s just cold MJ, that’s just cold man!

Bleacher Report noted that Arenas was on Golden State at the time and that this story is all second-hand information but we're going with his word because this is one of the cooler things we've ever heard.
