To say tensions were high in the New York Yankees clubhouse this season, would definitely be an understatement.

In a recent report from Bob Klapisch of NJ.com, news of a slight altercation arose in wake of Major League Baseball’s crackdown on foreign substances used by pitchers, which found Gerrit Cole to be in the spotlight after speculations of his possible use of the sticky substance.

In hopes to bring some light-heartedness to the Yankees squad, Brett Gardner had put pine tar on his cap to poke harmless fun at the situation, which Cole did not appreciate in the slightest.

Cole is rumoured to have gotten in Gardner’s face, while in front of the rest of the Yankees team, and told him to knock it off.

And while Gardner’s actions were meant to just bring fun to the clubhouse, it took Cole a day to brush the situation off his shoulders, apologizing to Gardner for how he handled the situation.

YIKES.
