The Toronto Blue Jays said they were going to make a splash in free agency, and they went ahead and cannon-balled right into the free agency pool.

The Jays signed former World Series MVP George Springer to a 6-year deal, which is probably and even higher-calibre player than some fans expected. Springer will help to bolster the top of the Jays’ order as one of the league’s best leadoff hitters, but we’re also excited to see how he fits into the Jays’ clubhouse.

On Thursday, a video surfaced of Springer revealing some of his interests, and we’ve never been so sure that he’ll fit right in to Canada.

Hockey, Schitt’s Creek, and a new edition of the Toronto Maple Leafs? That’s a whole lot of Canada from the American-born Springer. While the massive $150 million contract was likely the MAIN factor in Springer’s decision to sign with the Jays, the fact that he’s essentially Canadian with his likes and interests definitely bodes well too.
