George Springer’s rough spring training continues. Scratch that, the entire Houston Astros team are really feeling the wrath of the baseball world. Players are getting booed during their at-bats, and they appear to be getting plunked a bit more often than usual. There’s also no shortage of players new or old calling them out.
For George Springer in particular, he’s already been showered in boo birds during a spring training plate appearance.
In what was possibly an attempt to silence the crowd, Springer ended up hitting the dirt after a huge swing and a miss.
Against the Cardinals, while Springer was up to bat, someone in the crowd shouted “curveball” and the end result was as follows.
Realistically, the cause of the strikeout was probably just Springer thinking that the fastball was a touch inside. Regardless of what caused it, fans were thrilled nonetheless at another Springer strike out.
