Remember when Nick Foles got injured nearly right away this NFL season, and some guy named Gardner Minshew was tasked with taking over the Jacksonville Jaguars tortured quarterback position? He was such an unknown that people were even laughing at his name (which, by the way, was almost Beowulf).
Fast forward to Week 6 and Minshew is not only an increasingly hot commodity in the fantasy football world, but he’s also been discovered as one of the funniest characters in the league. From jock-strap warmups, to his epic mustache, we learn something new and entertaining about the Mississippi native each and every week.
Well, we’ve got a new one for you. Minshew’s fantasy football team is absolutely ridiculous.
In Sam Borden’s ESPN article, another owner in the league, Tre Polk, explains that Minshew shocked everyone when he announced that he would be redrafting – a very rare maneuver in a dynasty league.
According to Polk, pickups like Josh Jacobs (who he worked out with), Austin Ekeler, and the New England Patriots defence have all contributed to his success. Melvin Gordon is also set to take over a crucial role in his team as Minshew’s “Trust The Process” squad continues to role.
As for the quarterback situation, Minshew has been one of the most consistent QBs so far this season.
"That's the thing," Polk says. "I keep waiting for him to pick himself up, but no one took him. Gardner Minshew is available in Gardner Minshew's fantasy league."
Minshew is an absolute legend, and of course the guy he ended up taking is one of the only other quarterbacks to offer consistency and eight more points in standard leagues than himself.
You can’t make this stuff up.
