Anyone that has had a tight knit team knows how deep teammate relationships can go. You become brothers or sisters with those you compete with, and it makes things awfully difficult when business ends up splitting up personal friendships.

Everyone remembers Wayne Gretzky’s tearful press conference in which he states that he promised Mark Messier he wouldn’t do this. The departure of DeMar DeRozan from the Toronto Raptors has been noted by Kyle Lowry as one of the toughest moments of his career.

There are countless stories of teammate splits throughout professional sports, but some are undoubtedly cuter than others. We had no idea that former Carolina Panthers teammates DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel were carrying out this wholesome tradition until the Panthers released a video on Friday.

Now wearing #2 for the Panthers,  Moore took advantage of the relaxed jersey number rules to signify his former #12 without Samuel’s former #10. On top of that, the two also hug the air as they come out of the tunnel in a moment of solidarity.

For those wondering, the two will meet this season on the gridiron! Washington is slated to visit Carolina on November 21st, and you can bet it will be an emotional return for Samuel. Particularly for his reunion with Moore, it would seem.
