Former NHL player Brendan Ranford, nephew of Bill Ranford, selected in NLL Expansion Draft

The nephew of former NHL goaltender Bill Ranford has been drafted into the NLL, and could became the next multi-sport athlete.

Brendan Ranford, who played one game with the Dallas Stars back in the 2014-15 season, was selected in the 9^th round, 18^th overall, by the San Diego franchise.

Property of the Vancouver Stealth, Ranford is currently playing for the New Westminster Salmonellies of the Western Lacrosse Association, a high end Senior-A box lacrosse league that runs in the summer time that features numerous NLL players, as the NLL runs during the winter months. In 14 games this season with New Westminster, Ranford has 5 goals and 11 assists in 14 games.

The 26-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta wrapped up his hockey season with the San Antonio Rampage where he potted 4 goals and 19 points in 57 games as a left winger.

A 7^th round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, Ranford signed with the Stars after spending parts of six seasons in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers.

At the end of June, it was announced that Ranford will be heading overseas to play in Germany next year.

Whether he actually plays in the NLL or not remains to be seen, but if he does, it'll make for a pretty cool story.
