Following the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018, player Ryan Straschnitzki was left paralyzed from the chest down.

By summer of that same year, he was pursuing opportunities in sledge hockey, hoping to one day represent Canada at the Paralympics and he continues to make incredible progress in his recovery.

For the first time since that fateful crash, Straschnitzki is walking again. Two weeks ago, he was showing movement in his legs following a successful surgery in Thailand, and on Wednesday, his father Tom posted a video of Ryan’s first steps again.

Way to go, Ryan. This is just inspiring to see, and there’s no doubt that all of Canada is rooting for the guy.

In the aftermath of the crash, the way that the hockey community rallied behind the affected families and survivors was truly moving, and the support remains just as strong now.
