The new hockey season is underway and teams around the world are starting to get back into the swing of things. The UPEI Panthers opened their 2018-19 season at home against Moncton on Wednesday night, and while they didn’t leave with the victory, it was still a big night for the home team.
With the Panthers trailing 2-0 in the second period, they managed to break the shutout and get on the board, courtesy of former Humboldt Broncos forward Nick Shumlanski.
The play was set up by Filip Rydstrom and Riley Whittingham and you can tell just how big of a moment it was for Shumlanski and his new teammates based on their celebration.
A great debut for the 21-year-old.
