Mike Reilly is heading further west.
On Tuesday afternoon, the BC Lions announced they had signed the quarterback to a four-year, $2.9 million contract. Reilly began his CFL career from 2010-12 in BC before heading to Edmonton to play for the Eskimos between 2013-18. He rejoins the Lions after having won Grey Cup MVP honours in 2015.
Reports leaked on Monday night that Reilly intended to sign with the Lions after the CFL’s free agency period kicked off at 12 PM Eastern Time. Fans had all kinds of reactions to the organization landing one of this year’s biggest fish of the offseason.
Odell Willis even got in on the action afterward!
While most fans were either focused on losing Reilly or the price of his actual contracts, a few pointed out something in his pen-to-paper photo. Doesn’t Reilly throw with his right hand?
Interesting…
Free agency has kicked off with a bang for the Lions. General Manager Ed Hervey has already locked up his QB and offensive lineman Sukh Chung. The team is also expected to sign wide receiver Duron Carter.
Who’s next?
After getting smacked 48-8 by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Semi-Final, BC will look to make a deep run in the upcoming season. Thoughts on the moves?
