The Field of Dreams game has been hyped up and heavily promoted around the MLB for months, and tonight we’ll finally get to see the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox battle it out in a novelty-filled affair.

The game – as is suggested by the name of the event – is inspired by the 1990 film ‘Field of Dreams’ that starred Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Amy Madigan, and Ray Liotta. The field that they built (in hopes that ‘they would come’) was located in Iowa, which is also where the Yanks and Sox will go to battle tonight. With the event finally around the corner, here’s a list of things you can get excited for.

1. The Scenic Views

We’ve already gotten a good look at the manicured ‘Field of Dreams’ diamond in Iowa. It holds only 8,000 fans, and features a blanket of cornfield extending past the outfield, a corn maze, and all sorts of novelty signs and features that make it feel more like you’re pulling up to a farmer’s market in the country than an MLB baseball game.

2. The Uniforms

These uniforms have already been revealed, but we’re excited to see them in action. The White Sox in particular will be rocking a real throwback look, representative of the early 90’s.

Beyond the jerseys, there are other features incorporated into the fashion side as well. Take Aaron Judge, for example…

3. The Call-backs to the Original Film

We don’t KNOW that there will be call-backs, but it would be pretty surprising if there weren’t. It’s always a special moment when a certain song is played, a scene is shown on the big screen, or certain actors/characters are referenced.

Even Kevin Costner swung by to check it out.

4. The Food

As is the case with all novelty events, the menu is special as well. You may have caught Guy Fiery’s very questionable “Apple Pie Hot Dog” which, if nothing else, is unapologetically American.

Beyond that… uh… invention, there’s also other options that may cater a little more broadly. From deep fried oreos to pork tenderloin sandwiches, the lucky 8,000 guests will be dining in style.

Here is what MLB Ballpark had to say about the food options…

Specialty food and beverage offerings will include Iowa State Fair fan favorites like cheese curds from Curds&Cakes and deep-fried Oreos, Field of Dreams Nachos topped with pulled pork, cheese sauce, avocado cream, corn and tomato salsa and the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich from Cornfield Classics served with lettuce, mustard, pickle on a grilled bun. Fans can also purchase commemorative items including the Field of Dreams Souvenir Cup at various concession locations.

5. The Baseball!

This is one that the MLB actually couldn’t have necessarily planned for, but the teams are built to put on a great game. The White Sox are flexing a 67-48 record in the standings, good for a comfortable lead in the AL Central, while the Yankees are in the thick of a Wild Card race, currently sitting two games back of the Boston Red Sox.

You can bet these two teams will have a little extra pep in their step when Sox hurler Lance Lynn takes the mound in Iowa.
