John Tavares has a new home, and so do the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sort of.

Formerly known as the Air Canada Centre, or the “ACC” for short, construction on rebranding the area officially began on June 30th.

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment signed a 20-year, $800-million contract with Scotiabank earlier this year, resulting in the ACC getting the makeover.

Among the renovations happening inside the arena include a new scoreboard, and a new “Scotia Club” restaurant. The screen outside the arena at Maple Leaf Square will also be upgraded.

"We identified 150-plus categories of things," said Nick Eaves, chief venues and operations officer of MLSE. "So from signs to websites, letterheads to business cards, it goes on and on and on."

Signs at the arena will digitally change colours to accommodate the Leafs and Raptors. The two Toronto franchises have shared the ACC for the last 18 years.

Crews will be working over the summer months to complete the renos. Digital signage will be built around the venue to help fans navigate in a quick manner.
