If we had to pinpoint something about baseball that makes it so special, it definitely has to be the strong family ties that are within the game.

Next-generation players have definitely been a hot topic within Major League Baseball and it’s very clear that there isn’t a decline any time soon.

We’ve seen second-generation greats within Cal Ripken Jr., Barry Bonds, and Ken Griffey Jr. and with the rise of players such as Joc Pederson, Lance McCullers Jr, and pretty much a good portion of the Blue Jays young core, the next generation is truly special.

And amongst all of the next-generation players currently active, Fernando Tatís Jr. stands out as one of the best even within the league, especially after this past weekend’s series between the Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers.

As Tatís Jr. trolled Trevor Bauer not once, but TWICE last night, copying both his one eye closed Spring Training move and his Connor McGregor strut he’s grown notorious for using, there was definitely more to cheer about than this amazing showdown.

Within the first game of the series, Tatís Jr. hit two home runs at Dodger Stadium and followed with another two home runs in the second game the following day.

What makes these stats so remarkable is that Tatís Jr’s father, Fernando Tatís Sr. also hit two home runs (grand slams) at Dodger Stadium along with a home run the following day, all within the same series.

All on the exact same two days, 22 years later.

What’s even wilder is that Tatís Sr’s stats were from the same year his son was born.

We’re not quite sure, but we feel like this is the beginning of the plot of The Natural, if it were to be remade.

It’s amazing how magical baseball truly is, especially with keeping up with family ties!

Just last week we saw Bo Bichette hammer a home run in Boston where the ball landed just outside of where his parents first met back in 1991.

Stories like this definitely make it hard to not be romantic about baseball.
