The L.A. Kings found themselves in a bit of a tricky situation on Wednesday night after Calvin Petersen ended up on the COVID-19 protocol list. With Jonathan Quick already hurt, the Kings were left without a goaltender that had even started a game for them.

Enter Troy Grosenick, a goalie with two NHL starts under his belt, both of which came way back in 2014 with the San Jose Sharks. He won his debut, and lost the follow up game, and for the next few years it looked less and less likely that he’d ever make it back to the bigtime.

187 AHL appearances later, and Grosenick gets a shot in an NHL crease once again.

After driving to Los Angeles to avoid having to enter COVID-19 protocol, Grosenick returned to the league with a feel-good 5-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.

Following the game, he spoke with FOX Sports about the big win.

He may be keeping it together in this interview, but it was pretty clear the 31-year-old was pretty hyped up.

Not bad, Troy. Not bad at all.

There’s no word yet on whether Petersen will be available for the team’s Friday game against Colorado. Quick is also day-to-day, so it’s possible he returns as well.

Honestly, we’re kind of hoping for another Goose appearance.
