One of the most emotional tributes to Kobe and Gianna Bryant came from ESPN’s Elle Duncan, who recalled a conversation with Kobe about then being a father of three daughters — eventually four — and taking great pride in “being a girl dad.”
In a clip that has gone viral since the tragic helicopter crash, Kobe told Jimmy Kimmel in 2018 that Gianna would be the one to carry on his “basketball legacy.” He coached Gianna’s basketball team and had an active presence in all of his daughters’ lives, featuring them in his social media posts often.
On social media, the #girldad hashtag is trending, as dads everywhere honour Kobe and Gianna.
