It’s a special night for Patrick Marleau, who is all set to suit up for his league-record 1,768th career NHL game. He’ll pass one of the greatest all-time in Gordie Howe, who played his final game on April 6th, 1980.
The San Jose Sharks and the hockey world beyond are going all-out in celebrating Marleau, who is not just a longevity legend but a beloved personality around the league. As part of the celebrations, it was revealed that a pair of custom hockey gloves were crafted.
A pretty sweet gesture, but there was two glaring problems – there was a very clear grammatical error stitched into the material, and the wrong Leafs logo was used.
The gloves are celebrating his “1,768th career game,” or if written in a different way, “1,768 career games.” It doesn’t make sense to say “1,768th career games” as it does on these gloves.
While the errors may have gotten by some, the Twitter sphere is not a place where mistakes can hide for long. The responses quickly filled up with users correcting the grammatical error, or heading straight to the roast.
