The Toronto Maple Leafs and their fan base have earned a reputation for twisting any NHL news into something about their own squad and Max Domi’s new team has been no different.
Of course there has been a lot of discussion about seeing the name Domi on the back of a Canadiens jersey and what that will feel like for both fan bases, but now Domi’s number has continued the conversation. That’s because Domi chose number 13 as his new number in Montreal. Considering Domi grew up watching his dad play on the Leafs it shouldn’t be a surprise that he was a big Sundin fan.
Less than a month ago he even shared that Sundin was his favourite player growing up:
Now, fans are obviously making the connection between his new number and his favourite player growing up.
Funny enough, it appears they're right. Tie Domi explained on TSN's Montreal Radio station that he does wear it because of Mats Sundin.
