The Arizona Coyotes took to the ice in their Kachina throwback uniforms on Saturday night, as they will on every Saturday night game that they’ll play this season.
Antti Raanta is going to take things even further. The Coyotes netminder has customized Kachina pads that show off the classic logo, and now, we also have a close-up look at his mask bearing the same patterning style — as well as a tribute to former Coyotes captain Shane Doan.
This is Raanta’s second season with the Coyotes and he never actually played with Doan, who retired before Arizona traded for Raanta. Still, though, not a bad way to show some love to a franchise legend.
The Coyotes will retire Doan’s number 19 jersey this season — the first jersey number that the franchise will have ever retired — and Doan himself shared a message with fans after the announcement was made.
