It’s not easy being a professional hockey official. You are asked to be the decision maker in high-stakes sporting events where sometimes there just isn’t a call that will satisfy everyone, but a call must be made anyway.

You aren’t going to be everyone’s friend, but a group of World Juniors officials found themselves at the ire of many after a crucial call saw a tie-breaking 1st period goal disallowed.

 

Hmm, that looked pretty good. It’s always a fine line between what is allowed and disallowed, and with the call being “No Goal” on the ice, you need concrete evidence in order to overturn it.

According to TSN analysts Bob McKenzie and Craig Button, the officials may have had that.

 

They don’t like it, and it could prove to be a big goal in the end. Believe it or not, USA lost... by one goal....

As for the fans, they aren’t happy either…
