The Carolina Hurricanes are under new ownership and a lot has changed over the past couple of months.
Tom Dundon has made it clear that he will be a pretty hands on owner and it appears to apply to all facets of the game. One of the first things he touched on as a new owner was the team’s history – in particular, their time as the Hartford Whalers. Back in January, we wrote about how the team’s owner mentioned that he would like to sell merchandise with the Whalers logo online and even wanted to consider wearing the jersey again on the ice.
As the 2018-19 season draws closer and closer, we’re near the time where alternate jerseys are going to make a comeback. With Adidas taking over the jerseys last season, all teams went with just two jerseys, but that will change this season.
Carolina announced that they will reveal their third jersey on June 22 and fans are all hoping that it means the Whalers will make an appearance in Carolina.
Who knows what the third jersey will be, but some fans won’t be too upset if it means their black flag jersey is coming back. It seems like as long as it’s a jersey from their past, fans will be into it.
Honestly, at this point, they’d be more into winning. The team is a dark horse candidate to make the playoffs every year, so it will be interesting to see if they can finally make the leap to being a real cup contender.
If they do, we know what goal song we want to hear.
