Evgeny Kuznetsov was selected 26th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and he’s flourished into a star ever since he was put on a line with fellow Russian teammate Alex Ovechkin during the 2015-16 season. After recording just 14 goals and 46 points through his first 97 games, Kuznetsov potted 20 goals and totaled 77 points in 80 games during his first season on a line with Ovechkin and they’ve pretty much been together ever since.
On Monday night, Ovechkin became the fourth fastest player to join the 600 goal club and Kuznetsov had one of the best seats in town for the milestone as he happened to record his 45th assist of the season on the play.
While meeting with the media after the game, Kuznetsov discussed what it was like to help set up Ovechkin’s 600th career goal and he gave one of the greatest (NSFW) answers.
Usually you treat the person who achieved the milestone to dinner, but considering Ovi was on a bit of scoring slump as of late we’re guessing he isn’t going to mind treating his linemate to a free meal.
Oh yeah, Kuznetsov had a pretty good night, too, as he finished with two points including the game-winning goal in overtime.
Since the 2015-16 season, Kuznetsov has scored 60 goals to go with 142 assists for 202 points in 233 games.
