If you take a look at the players brought in by the Calgary Flames this offseason, then you’ll probably notice a pretty obvious pattern among them.
They got their free agency off to a bang with prominent signings including Jacob Markstrom, Chris Tanev and Louis Domingue, and then on Saturday decided to keep things going with the signing of Josh Leivo as well.
That’s right: The Flames have signed four former Canucks to their team, in the span of just about two weeks.
Ironically, there’s a team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the actual name of the Calgary Canucks, and their Twitter mentions have been alight ever since the Flames decided to go with the strategy of signing mostly just whoever leaves Vancouver.
And yes, the actual Calgary Canucks are having some fun with this, too.
