After the smashing success of ‘The Last Dance’ last year, it makes sense to capitalize on the momentum some of the most dramatic and entertaining eras the NBA has ever seen.

Though the ’90s Bulls had a lot of magic and intrigue surrounding them, the 1980s Lakers had star power of the same magnitude that set the stage. The team quite literally redefined the NBA with their star-studded roster, style of play, and five championships in ten years. HBO is bringing the story of ‘Showtime’ to a TV near you with an upcoming series based upon the era, the team, and everything they encompassed.

The show has yet to be publically named, but the actors who will be portraying players in the dramatization have been.

Showtime’s greatest rival at the time was Larry Bird’s Celtics, and the Los Angeles versus Boston rivalry in basketball is still one of the best in the game, a lot of which still stems from this era.

Today, Bo Burnham, who started his entertainment career as a YouTuber, was announced as the actor who’s going to play big bad Larry Bird, and people are having extremely mixed reactions about it.

To be honest, we love this choice, we can’t wait to see it, and it might be good for context to add that Burnham is 6’4!
