As the great Sherry Bassin, former owner of the Erie Otters has said before… if you’re five minutes early, you’re ten minutes late!
Kirby Dach and Dylan Cozens will be keeping that in the back of their heads for the future after an incident they had at Thursday’s Team Canada training camp skate. The two players, who are both expected to be leaders on this year’s team, showed up late to practice and were given the option to either bend the rules and stay on the ice, or take the hit and sit out as punishment. As you probably could have expected, the chose to make an example of themselves and sit out the skate.
Talk about owning it!
And the lesson was learned. Dach and Cozens were the first two players on the ice for the late session. Probably can expect more of this going forward.
Honestly, sometimes teams need bumps in the road like this to get on the right track. We can’t wait for these two to lace’em up at this year’s tournament.
