It might be par for the course in any game involving Evander Kane and the Vegas Golden Knights, but even in preseason action — preseason! — things got heated on the ice when Kane was ejected for abuse of an official.
Kane was restrained by a referee on the ice following a mix-up with Deryk Engelland, and in the commotion, Kane and the referee fell to the ice (video). He responded with a minor shove to the official, which is an obvious no-no that resulted in his ejection.
The way that Kane saw it, he was taken down and “jumped from behind” by the referee, and he says that he’s treated unfairly by the officials in general.
There were multiple line brawls and a total 114 penalty minutes (two fighting majors and six misconduct penalties!) in this one, which, again, we must reiterate is a preseason game. Preseason!
It’s safe to say that those fans in Vegas are no fan of Evander Kane. This is certainly no preseason atmosphere.
