If you know Ernie Johnson, you likely know him as the host of the NBA on TNT panel. Usually that means you’re watching him wrangle Shaq, Chuck, and Kenny; making sure everyone behaves themselves and keeps the show on time.

Well he may not make headlines as frequently as his compadres, and never strives to steal the spotlight from them either, Ernie has become possibly the most beloved. Highly respected both in the world of basketball and the broadcasting world beyond, the Emmy Award winning has become a legend on the TNT panel.

One of the reasons why Johnson has earned his pedestal is through his ability to always find the right words. He’s well-spoken at all times, funny when he wants to be, and profoundly thoughtful with everything he says. It should come as no surprise that he delivered such a phenomenal speech while visting the Alabama Football team.

Ernie touches on the perseverance of raising a child with disability. He talks about hard work, new beginnings, and not being afraid to try something different. Throughout the speech, you can see the inspired faces of ‘Bama players soaking in every last word.

A Georgia grad, Johnson also made sure to share a message to the larger audience. While the Crimson Tide may have been the benefactor of watching Ernie speak in the flesh, his messages extend to you and I as well, watching from a computer or phone screen.
