It’s a tough year for American soccer as the national team found themselves on the outside looking into to the sport’s biggest stage, the World Cup. A stunning loss to Trinidad and Tobago spelled the end of the World Cup dreams for 2018, and since then the country has had to try and come to terms with the fact that they will not be present in the tournament they’ve participated in every year since dating back to 1990.
Don’t worry, though, the British will gladly take all the extra fans this year!
In a hilarious video done up by talk show host James Corden, the English soccer team attempts to recruit the team-less American fans. It made for some pretty hilarious moments.
No word yet on whether the recruitment worked, but if it did then American fans would have been pretty happy with England’s 2-1 win over Tunisia. England plays Panama next, but the true test will be when they face the powerful Belgian squad. Then we’ll see if any American bandwagoners get scared off.
