We’re back!

We’ve looked at baseball, we’ve looked at hockey, and we’ve been able to find some of the most incredible sports venues.

But we’re not done quite yet.

It’s almost ridiculous how many breathtaking soccer pitches there are around the globe! And even though we somehow managed to cut our list down to eight pitches, there are still so many more that we could probably even write up a part two!

Though for now, we’ll dive into eight of the most beautiful soccer (or football) pitches around the world!

HENNINGSVÆR IDRETTSLAG STADION, NORWAY

We are without a doubt starting off with a bang. Located in a small fishing village on two small islands outside of Lofoten sits this breathtaking and majestic soccer stadium.

The stadium sits on a small rocky with mountains and the sea draped around it just off the Norwegian Sea.

The stadium only hosts amateur games as it doesn’t have any stands, but truly, this is quite the pitch.

 ADIDAS FUTSAL PARK, JAPAN

We’re drifting away from the sea and the mountains for this one!

Located in Tokyo, this remarkable football pitch sits on top of the Tokyu Tokyo department store.

So how do you play there? Prices begin at ¥5,250 per hour for teams that are members (¥8,400 for teams that aren't).

OTTMAR HITZFELD STADIUM, SWITZERLAND

Football pitches on elevated surfaces might be one of our favourite niche categories within this article because we have another incredible pitch.

Located in Gspon, Switzerland, Ottmar Hitzfeld Stadium is recorded as the highest stadium in Europe in the Swiss Alps.

Sitting 2,000 metres about sea level, the pitch even turns into a ski run in the winter season.

And how do you get up there? Just two cable cars, you know, the usual.

The pitch is home to GC Gspon, an amateur club and yes, they do happen to lose a lot of balls. In a report by BBC, they estimated that over 1,000 balls were lost in the past 40 years.

THE FLOAT AT MARINA BAY, SINGAPORE

So we’ve had soccer pitches on buildings, on mountains and on rocks around water.

Though what about playing soccer on a floating soccer pitch?!

Built on top of a steel platform, the pitch is one of the multiple event times that can be hosted on Marina Bay. The floating platform itself can hold up to 9,000 people and was meant to only be a temporary venue for the Singapore National Stadium, which was under construction.

This definitely is one of the coolest pitches we’ve seen.

DUMBARTON FOOTBALL STADIUM (THE ROCK), SCOTLAND

This pitch reminds us of our first pitch out in Norway with its awesome scenery and is located in Dumbarton, Scotland.

Dumbarton Football Stadium, otherwise known as the Rock, is home to the Dumbarton Football Club and sits below Dumbarton Castle.

VØLLURIN í HÓLMANUM STADIUM, FAROE ISLANDS

This stadium is definitely a hidden yet special easter egg.

Located in Eiði village on the north-western side of Eysturoy island within the Faroe Islands, Eiði Stadium is home to EB/Streymur and captures one of the most peaceful looking views we’ve ever seen.

Within the village of only 700 people, you cannot help but get distracted by the beautiful houses along with mountain and ocean views when playing here.

FLOATING PITCH, THAILAND

Now, this is definitely one of the coolest soccer pitches we’ve ever seen and it’s what makes Phang Nga Bay so famous around the world!

Located in Koh Panyi, the Muslim fishing village, the floating soccer pitch is surrounded by cliffs and open water.

CACICA SALT MINE, ROMANIA

Yes, you read that title right. This final soccer pitch is located inside of a salt mine!

Located roughly 44 metres below the ground is an indoor soccer pitch, the field is open for locals and visitors.

Though since you are pretty deep underground, the first half an hour of breathing while exercising is said to be pretty difficult.

The court is also about to be used for tennis and volleyball and is able to be rented for 100 lei ($29CAD).
