Seems like there’s no better time than right now to get in on sports documentaries, with all of the hype surrounding ESPN’s “The Last Dance” doc about Michael Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls.
It looks like Dwyane Wade is dipping his toes into the water as well — he says he’s producing a documentary about the 2008 US men’s basketball Redeem Team.
Nicknamed as a play on the 1992 Dream Team — featuring MJ, of course — the 2008 US team was known for a long-term recruitment of many major NBA superstars that had sat out of previous Olympics, and there’s actually some debate as to whether or not the Redeem Team is better than the original Dream Team.
Just look at these names: Wade, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh and more. Of course they won gold.
If we can get this Redeem Team documentary at some point as well as a rumoured doc about Kobe’s final season in the NBA, then we could in for an unreal period of excellent sports documentaries out there soon.
