Dustin Poirier made a statement against Conor McGregor in the octagon!
Although he came in as the underdog in the fight, “The Diamond” didn’t waste much time in the main event at UFC 257 as he knocked out McGregor in the 2nd round.
Most people were set on McGregor taking the win in his return, or at least expected it to be a lengthy bout, but it didn’t last very long and ended well before the halfway mark of the five-round fight.
The last time these two went head-to-head inside the octagon was on September 27, 2014 at UFC 178 where McGregor won via TKO, but since then Poirier has gone 10-2 and a no decision and entered the bout with a professional record of 26-6.
Last week we heard Max Holloway call himself the best boxer in the UFC in the middle of his fight, but Poirier added to that after his win and gave a simple reason why he believes he’s a better boxer than Holloway.
A well deserved win for Poirier in a fight that many people were giving him a chance in.
