Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien typically keeps his cool on the ice, but he occasionally loses it in the heat of the moment.

The Jets took on the Montreal Canadiens last night at the Bell Centre in what turned out to be a tight matchup from start to finish. With the Jets ahead 4-3 late in the third, Byfuglien took an unnecessary slashing penalty on Canadiens forward Kerby Rychel and didn’t appear to agree with the call. When the play was blown dead, he proceeded to lose his cool on the referees.

After entering the box, he then took his stick and repeatedly slammed it into the door.

After Alex Galchenyuk capitalized on the power play, Byfuglien continued his tirade when he exited the box and approached the head referee. While continuing his rant, Byfuglien bumped into an official and was consequently thrown out of the game.

Last night was just another example of Byfuglien giving fans a memorable moment from the box. While spending 17 minutes in the sin bin after fighting Colorado Avalanche forward AJ Greer on home ice, ‘Buff’ was caught singing and clapping his hands.

Luckily for Byfuglien, the Jets managed to come away with a 5-4 overtime win on a goal by rookie forward Kyle Connor. The defenceman leads the Jets in penalty minutes by a landslide with 112; 60 more than Blake Wheeler, who ranks second on the team with 52.
