The penalty box is supposed to be a timeout for hockey players, but some don’t take their time in it very seriously.
One fan in Anaheim wanted to make sure that didn’t happen in their home arena. They brought a sign to hold up for players in the box to instruct them as to how they should be spending their time in the box. Daniel Sedin got a rare 12 minutes in penalties and was instructed to think about what he did.
The penalty box is weird. We don’t really think about it being hockey fans for all our life, but the fact that there is actually a time-out area for people who have been bad in hockey is pretty unique.
We know one person who doesn’t too much thinking in the box, because Drew Doughty spends all of his time yelling at the ref.
