When Fred VanVleet signed with the Raptors as an undrafted free agent in 2016, it didn’t take long for Raps fans to note the similarities between him and that other guy who likes to sit near the team’s bench, Drake. Now that he’s an even more crucial part of the team’s bench these days, the FVV-Drake comparisons have only risen.
You can count FVV and Drake themselves as in on the joke, too. Drake posted this meme to his Instagram account, which VanVleet also shared on his story.
Uncanny! From the line-up to the beard. VanVleet is a native of Illinois, but he would fit right into the suburbs of Toronto.
If he can play half as well as his doppelganger did in Game 4, then it might be worth throwing Drake out there for the next one out. He’s basically on the team at this point, after running over to massage coach Nick Nurse after an especially intense moment in the last game.
