Connor Hellebuyck, Leon Draisaitl and Roman Josi all received some hardware on Monday night for their extremely impressive 2019-20 seasons, and they all made history in their own ways.
You would think with the names that have occupied the Nashville Predators’ blue line since they entered the NHL, you’d think they would have at least one Norris Trophy winner. But that wasn’t the case until Monday night when Josi received the award.
Not only did Josi become the first Preds defenceman to win the Norris Trophy, but he also became the first Swiss-born player to win an individual award in NHL history.
Meanwhile Leon Draisaitl won a couple of awards on Monday, and he made history with both as he became the first German-born player to win both the Hart Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award.
Meanwhile Connor Hellebuyck played some of the best hockey of his NHL career to take home the Vezina Trophy for the first time in his career. Not only is it his first time winning the award, but it’s the first time a goalie from the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets franchise earned the honours.
Can’t wait to do it all again next year!
