The storylines between Alexander Ovechkin and members of the Carolina Hurricanes took a hilarious turn in Game 6 on Monday night.
Flashback to Saturday's Game 5 when Dougie Hamilton appeared to give up on a looming board battle between himself and Ovechkin.
Hamilton appeared to think the Caps were going to be called for icing, and completely gave up on the puck retrieval. Ovechkin was able to come up with and dish the puck to Brett Connolly for one easiest and head-scratching goals we've seen in quite some time. clip
Although he doesn't weigh as much as Ovi, Hamilton has a three-inch height advantage, and the optics of the video don't favour Hamilton whatsoever, leading many to think that Hamilton completely bailed out on the collision.
Jump ahead to Monday, Hamilton appeared to hear Ovechkin footsteps once again as the Great 8 came pouncing in for a massive hit. Hamilton quickly dodged Ovechkin, resulting in Ovi smashing into the boards.
After Ovechkin regained his footing, he skated by the Canes' bench and did a little chicken dance in Hamilton's direction as he was changing.
The classic Chicken dance.
To be fair, almost any player will dodge a hit if they're given the appropriate amount of time to avoid a collision.
But the humorous part of this is that it just happened to be Hamilton and Ovechkin crossing paths once again, with Hamilton seeming to want part of Ovechkin on both occasions.
Ovechkin would later add his fourth of the series on a two-on-one where he unleashed a wicked wrister past Petr Mrazek. The Caps and Canes are tied 2-2 after 40 minutes of Game 6 action.
