After the final horn sounded in Game 4 between the New York Islanders and Caorlina Hurricanes, it was Dougie Hamilton who had the last laugh.
The 25-year-old made noise during handshakes when he avenged his goaltender Curtis McElhinny after by giving Isles forward Brock Nelson a nice little tap to the head. As a friendly reminder, it was Nelson who gave McElhinney a tap on the head after Josh Bailey’s second goal in Game 3 that just so happened to take place right in front of Hamilton. After a weekend off to reflect, Dougie was asked about the incident and made it very clear that NO ONE messes around with his 35-year-old tendy.
So the whole thing was planned all along…
Message sent loud and clear Mr. Hamilton!
To make matters worse for Nelson and the Isles, they managed to make a little history for reasons they’d rather not repeat. With the L, New York became the first team since the 1993 Sabres to get swept after doing the sweeping in a previous series. The Isles mustered just five goals through the four contests.
Whether it's Petr Mrzek or McElhinney starting in the Conference Final it’s safe to say that either the Blue Jackets or Bruins won’t be getting to close to the goaltender.
