With how dominant the Dodgers were early in the season, their current losing streak is simply baffling.

The Dodgers are currently on an 11-game losing streak, and have lost 16 of their last 17 games. What might be even more shocking than this is that they still hold a 4-game lead for the best record in baseball. They are still very likely to win their division with a 9.5 game lead in that department and they still have one of the best rosters in the game.

A definite strength for the Dodgers this year and in years past has been there pitching. Having the two most dominant players at their position, Kenley Jansen and Clayton Kershaw, certainly helps but they have a deep rotation as well.

Still, they have struggled in recent weeks and one LA reporter feels they are to blame for the losing streak. Dodgers’ pitcher Brandon McCarthy disagrees.

What this really comes down to is poor communication of his point. Duarte just meant to say that the pitching staff’s ERA has been inflated during the losing streak. The Dodgers strength has been their pitchers all season, but they haven’t been during this stretch.

He elaborated on what he meant to say later.
