Patrick Mahomes beat the odds. No, we’re not talking about the 21-0 fourth quarter comeback, or even about Mahomes becoming the youngest quarterback to win both an MVP award and a Super Bowl.
What we’re talking about is the fact that Patrick Mahomes just broke the Madden Curse. Even the official Madden 20 account on Twitter, which rarely acknowledges the curse for fairly obvious reasons, took note.
Mahomes follows Antonio Brown, who was Madden 19’s cover athlete. Seems safe to say that the curse struck hard there. Now there’s a lot riding on the shoulders of whichever player will cover next year’s Madden. Is the curse really reversed, or was Mahomes just a blip?
Well, Mahomes doesn’t have to worry about that. He’s got a championship and a Super Bowl MVP to collect on.
