That’s what DeMar DeRozan promised Toronto Raptors fans nearly a decade ago and that’s exactly what he did during his nine seasons with the team.
On Friday night, the franchise’s leader in games played and points returned to Toronto for the first time since the trade as the Raptors hosted the San Antonio Spurs and fans welcomed him back with an incredible and lengthy standing ovation.
The Compton, California native most likely would have been a Raptor for his entire career if it were up to him, which is something Toronto basketball fans weren’t used to as they saw every star before him leave the first chance they got, so the four-time NBA All-Star got the standing ovation he truly deserved.
DeRozan put his heart and soul into the city of Toronto and the Raptors and there’s still nothing but love for him among the Raptors faithful.
