The unthinkable happened on Saturday night when Leafs Zamboni driver David Ayers when in between the pipes for the Carolina Hurricanes. What’s more amazing is that he actually got a W, and the stats section from his Elite Prospects makes the who situation all the more improbable.
If you take a deep dive, you can see that Ayres played in the Allen Cup for the Norwood Vipers in their 2014-15 season. If you look over a few more columns you can see his stats, which weren’t exactly flattering. The 42-year-old managed a 8.88 goals against average along with a .777% save percentage.
Yeah, not great.
It’s worth noting that his page now has… wait for it… 100,000 page views. And would you look at that, he now has a Hockey DB page with his picture on it as well!
Everyone has been calling the Whitby, Ontario native since the fill-in. Carolina is selling his shersey and would you look at that, he even made a fill-in for TradeCentre!
Hey, if an NHL team needs a goalie and doesn’t want to get one at the deadline… we’re sure Dave would be open to signing with a team in need! Hopefully they just don’t look at his Elite Prospects page.
