When big news breaks in the sports world, the internet is the home for every reaction, but sometimes it's dangerous to get too excited or upset about a move.
On Monday, for example, the Oilers fired Todd McLellan and hired Ken Hitchcock to replace him. Immediately fans reacted with pleas for Joel Quenneville and ripped Hitchcock's coaching style before he's even had a chance to coach a game.
As more details about the hire started to emerge, Darren Dreger shared some interesting information about the hire that suggests Hitchcock may not be the head coach come next season.
Usually when teams choose to fire their head coach during the season and replace him with an interim head coach, they say that replacement will be re-evaluated at the end of the season.
Hitchcock isn't an interim head coach, but apparently his future with the team isn't set in stone either and that's definitely interesting to note in the grand scheme of things because it could mean more changes are coming.
