The offseason is a time where players focus on getting stronger, tinker with a new shot or pitch, and replenish themselves and prepare for the grueling upcoming season.

The term “No Offseason” has become a popular one in the sports world. Athletes will use this as a hashtag or in a caption that highlights their vigorous offseason training methods.

But not all offseason workouts are meant to be at 110 per cent, or be balls to the wall.

In fact, if you’re like Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris, then there’s a component of your offseason workout plan that requires great patience, just like developing a new pitch.

That thing has taken on a life of its own and is thick with three c's. You could probably even make some sort of wig out of that beard. Imagine trying to eat with that thing!

Norris is a noted outdoorsman that loves to travel around the U.S. in his 1978 Volkswagen Wetsfalia. His van even has his own Instagram account.

According to an article in the Detroit Free Press, Norris would wake up at 4am and drive his Volkswagen from his hometown of Johnson City, Tennesse to Atlanta, Georgia to work out a special training facility, and then return home.

Hey, if it beats not working out in a van and you have the gas money to spend, then why not?

The 24-year-old is looking to solidify a spot in the Tigers rotation this season after being sent back-and-forth behind Triple-AAA and Detroit last season. In 18 starts with Detroit, Norris went 5-8 with a 5.31 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP in 101.2 innings pitched.
