All eyes in the hockey world are on John Tavares right now as fans across the league wait to find out where he’ll decide to play next season and many years after that. The list is down to just six teams and fans from those six fan bases are eagerly waiting to see if the former first overall draft pick will choose their team and some of them are even trying to help out in different ways.
In hopes of trying to persuade Tavares to make the move to Dallas, a Stars fan started a GoFundMe campaign that offers Tavares free Whataburger if he makes the move south.
The online campaign has raised $79 over the first two days and all proceeds will go towards the Dallas Stars Foundation.
Obviously this won’t make any impact in Tavares’ actual decision, but it doesn’t hurt to try. In fact, new Dallas Stars head coach Jim Montgomery is fully on board with the online campaign.
They’re not the only fans to offer up free food to the star centreman as Juniors Cheesecake, a New York-based cheesecake company, is offering Tavares a lifetime supply of free cheesecake if he resigns with the Islanders.
In 669 career games with the Islanders, Tavares has 272 goals and 349 assists for 621 points and sits fifth for most points in franchise history.
