Curtis Joseph was always a fan favourite when he was in the NHL, and also someone that youngsters looked up to. Lumped in with many millennials that never went too far in hockey, Connor McDavid was one of those that saw CuJo as a role model.
The only problem was, McDavid was developing at such a quick pace as a kid that it wouldn’t take long before he saw Joseph as more of a peer.
Okay, maybe not actually, but CuJo did take the time to tell a little story of just how good McDavid was as a kid. McDavid grew up in Newmarket, Ontario, and played hockey with Joseph’s middle kid. Joseph explains that it didn’t take McDavid very long to start scoring on him, an NHLer, on a semi-frequent basis.
It’s possible that Joseph was being a little generous with this explanation, but it’s hard to dispute once you’ve seen Mcdavid as an NHLer. The guy has it all out there, and apparently that started a long time ago.
